A standard Singapore city tour covers the country's most famous modern marvels, historic districts, and panoramic viewpoints .
1. Merlion Park - 30–45 mins
The very symbol of Singapore — a half-lion, half-fish statue spouting water into Marina Bay — is the city's most photographed landmark and the perfect starting point for any visit. The real draw is the location: standing at Merlion Park at dawn, with the Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, Gardens by the Bay Supertrees, and the glittering Financial District skyline all in one panoramic sweep, is genuinely breathtaking.
Visit at sunrise (7–8 AM) for calm, uncrowded, golden-light photos, or after dark when the city lights up magnificently. Entry is completely free. Also look for the smaller Merlion statue nearby!
Open 24 hours | FREE
2. Gardens by the Bay, 3 hours + evening show
One of the most spectacular garden experiences on Earth — a 101-hectare futuristic garden on reclaimed land beside Marina Bay, with giant tree-like Supertree structures, two extraordinary climate-controlled domes, and immaculate themed gardens stretching to the waterfront.
The three must-do experiences:
Cloud Forest (ticketed): A massive 35-metre indoor mountain shrouded in mist and covered entirely in tropical plants, orchids, and ferns. The towering indoor waterfall cascading down the mountain face is one of the most dramatic interiors you'll ever walk through. Cool and refreshing — perfect in Singapore's heat.
Flower Dome (ticketed): The world's largest glass greenhouse — a cool, dry Mediterranean climate inside containing plants from five continents. Floral exhibitions change seasonally and are always stunning.
Supertree Grove (FREE): The iconic futuristic tree structures up to 50 metres tall. Walk the OCBC Skyway bridge between two Supertrees (SGD 14) for aerial views. At 7:45 PM and 8:45 PM every evening, the free Garden Rhapsody light and sound show illuminates the Supertrees in a magical display — absolutely not to be missed.
Open daily 5 AM–2 AM (outdoor gardens FREE)
3. Marina Bay Sands
The most recognisable building in Singapore — three 55-storey towers connected by a 340-metre ship-shaped SkyPark — is both a luxury hotel and one of Singapore's best observation points. Visit the SkyPark Observation Deck at sunset for THE iconic Singapore panorama: Marina Bay, Merlion, Gardens by the Bay, Sentosa, and the entire skyline spread below you. For hotel guests, the infinity pool straddling all three towers at 200 metres is one of the world's most famous pools.
Downstairs, the ArtScience Museum (lotus-shaped building nearby) has excellent rotating exhibitions. The casino, shopping mall, and dozens of celebrity-chef restaurants complete the complex.
SkyPark open 10 AM–8 PM (last entry 7:30 PM)
The Singapore Flyer is one of the world's largest observation wheels — standing 165 metres tall, it was the world's biggest Ferris wheel when it opened in 2008 and remains the third largest today. Each of its 28 air-conditioned glass capsules holds up to 28 passengers and takes exactly 30 minutes to complete one full, slow rotation — giving you ample time to soak in a breathtaking 360° panorama of Singapore and beyond.
From the top, on a clear day, you can see as far as Malaysia to the north and the Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan to the south — a remarkable 45 km radius of land and sea from a single vantage point.
Open Daily 10 AM – 10 PM
Open Daily 5 AM – Midnight | FREE Entry
Singapore's most beloved green escape and Southeast Asia's only UNESCO World Heritage garden — 82 hectares of lush tropical beauty right in the heart of the city. Founded in 1859, it's where British botanists cultivated the rubber seedlings that transformed the entire Southeast Asian economy.

The world's largest tropical orchid display — 1,000+ species and 2,000 hybrids on three terraced hectares of spectacular colour. Singapore's national flower, the Vanda Miss Joaquim, is displayed with great pride.
The 4 zones you must not miss:
Main Terrace — thousands of potted orchids in every imaginable colour cascading down stone terraces. The fragrance and visual impact on entry is overwhelming in the best way.
VIP Orchid Collection — the garden's most unique feature: hybrid orchids named after visiting heads of state and celebrities. Spot orchids named after Princess Diana, Nelson Mandela, Indira Gandhi, Jackie Chan, Margaret Thatcher, and India's own Narendra Modi — each with a portrait card. A genuinely fascinating living diplomatic record.
Sembcorp Cool House — a mist-filled, air-conditioned glasshouse simulating Himalayan and Bornean cloud forests. Rare, high-altitude orchids you'd never see elsewhere, wrapped in cool mist and ferns. A magical 20-minute interlude and welcome escape from Singapore's heat.
Waterfall & Bandstand Garden — a cascading waterfall draped in orchids beside a Victorian colonial bandstand; one of the most photographed spots in the garden.
Tips:
Enter at 8:30 AM sharp — fewest crowds, best light for photos
Bring a macro camera or use portrait mode — the close-up orchid details are extraordinary
Take your time in the Cool House — most people rush through it but it deserves 20 minutes
Combine with the main Botanic Gardens for a perfect half-day outing
7. Little India - FREE | 90 mins
A wonderfully chaotic and vibrant neighbourhood that will feel strangely familiar to Mumbaikars — the smells of jasmine garlands, incense, and fresh spices; the sounds of Tamil film music; the colours of silk sarees in shopfront windows. Walking through Little India is an immersive, multi-sensory experience.
Must-see within Little India:
Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple — a stunning Dravidian temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, over 150 years old, with an ornate gopuram covered in colourful sculptures
Mustafa Centre — a legendary 24-hour shopping complex where you can find literally everything from gold jewellery to Indian groceries to electronics at competitive prices. Great for gifts and Indian products
Tekka Centre — bustling wet market and hawker centre for a local breakfast: roti prata, teh tarik, and murtabak
The painted shophouses along Kerbau Road are among the most photographed streets in Singapore
8. Chinatown - FREE (some attractions ticketed) - 2 hours
Singapore's most atmospheric heritage district, crammed with preserved shophouses, temples, hawker stalls, and souvenir shops. Much quieter and more charming than Hong Kong or Bangkok's Chinatowns.
Must-see within Chinatown:
Buddha Tooth Relic Temple — a spectacular 5-storey Tang Dynasty-style temple housing a tooth relic of Buddha on the 4th floor. The rooftop garden and ground-floor museum are magnificent. Entry FREE
Chinatown Heritage Centre — restored 19th century shophouses turned museum, recreating the lives of early Chinese immigrants through life-size dioramas. Entry SGD 18
Sri Mariamman Temple — Singapore's oldest Hindu temple, right in the heart of Chinatown — a delightful surprise! Beautiful gopuram and peaceful interior. Free entry
Chinatown Food Street — an entire covered street of open-air hawker stalls; try char kway teow, laksa, Hainanese chicken rice, and char siu BBQ pork
9. Orchard Road - 3 hours
Singapore's most famous street and Asia's most glamorous shopping boulevard — a 2.2 km stretch of wall-to-wall air-conditioned shopping malls, luxury boutiques, department stores, restaurants, and cafes. Even if you don't plan to shop, Orchard Road is worth experiencing as a phenomenon of urban design.
Key malls along Orchard Road:
Mall Known For
ION Orchard Most prestigious; Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton; great food basement
Ngee Ann City Largest; Japanese department store + Kinokuniya bookshop (huge)
Paragon Gucci, Prada, Versace; excellent food court
313@Somerset Mid-range fashion; great for local brands and F&B
Orchard Central Quirky, indie stores; roof garden with city views
Lucky Plaza Budget electronics and money changers; very popular with Filipinos
Insider tip: The underground linkways connect most malls — you can walk the entire length of Orchard Road without stepping outside in the heat. The basement food courts (especially Food Republic at Shaw House and Food Opera at ION) serve excellent local food at reasonable prices.
During Christmas (mid-Nov to Jan), Orchard Road transforms into Singapore's most spectacular festive street — millions of lights, tree-shaped installations, and countdown events that rival any city in the world.
Open daily 11 AM–10 PM
Night Safari - 6:30 PM – 11:30 PM
The world's first nocturnal wildlife park — a genuinely unique experience unlike any zoo you've been to. Home to over 900 animals across 86 species, all active at night in their natural sleeping patterns. The dimly lit trails and tram ride create an atmosphere that feels like being in a real wild forest at night.
How it works:
Tram ride (included): A 40-minute guided tram tour through the park's major sections — you'll spot Asian lions, elephants, Malayan tigers, Bornean rhinos, Himalayan black bears, and more with dim but sufficient lighting
Four walking trails: After the tram, explore themed trails on foot — the Fishing Cat Trail and Leopard Trail get you closer to the animals
Creatures of the Night Show (free with entry): A live show with nocturnal animals including a binturong, raccoon, civets, and more — runs at 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30 PM. Highly recommended
Thumbuakar Fire show at the entrance — entertaining pre-show while queuing for the tram
Tips: Book tickets online in advance — it sells out on weekends. Arrive by 6:30 PM, enter by 7 PM, and catch the 7:30 PM Creatures show first. Wear insect repellent. No flash photography — strictly enforced to protect the animals.
Open daily 6 PM–midnight | Last tram 11:15 PM
Sentosa is Singapore's ultimate leisure island — a 5 sq km resort island connected to the southern tip of Singapore by a causeway, cable car, and monorail. Its name means "peace and tranquility" in Malay — though today it is anything but tranquil! It packs in a theme park, beaches, an oceanarium, adventure activities, luxury hotels, world-class golf courses, and nightly entertainment, all within walking or buggy distance of each other. For families and thrill-seekers, Sentosa can easily fill 2 full days.
🚌 How to Get to Sentosa
Getting to Sentosa is part of the fun — there are four ways:
Mode From Details
Sentosa Express Monorail VivoCity (HarbourFront MRT) 5-min scenic ride, most popular
Singapore Cable Car Mount Faber or HarbourFront Most spectacular — 30-min ride,
Sentosa Boardwalk VivoCity 10-min covered walkway (free)
Grab/Taxi Anywhere in Singapore Drive-in via Sentosa Gateway
Recommended: Take the Cable Car TO Sentosa for spectacular aerial views of the harbour, and walk back via the free Boardwalk at the end of the day.
Within Sentosa: Free beach trams and internal buses connect all attractions every 10–15 minutes — use these to hop between Universal Studios, the beaches, and Siloso Beach.
1. Singapore Cable Car - 40 mins
The most scenic way to arrive on Sentosa — board the cable car at Mount Faber Peak (or HarbourFront tower) and glide across Keppel Harbour to Sentosa in a smooth, gentle gondola ride with panoramic 360° views of the harbour, city skyline, container terminals, and the Southern Islands.
Two gondola options:
Standard gondola — large windows, comfortable seating, 4–8 passengers
Premium glass-floor gondola — a heart-stopping transparent floor lets you look straight down to the harbour 100 metres below. Absolutely worth the upgrade!
The full route runs Mount Faber → HarbourFront → Sentosa with stops at all three. At Sentosa's Imbiah Lookout station, there is a viewing deck, café, and free walking trails to the island's attractions.
Open daily 8:45 AM – 9:30 PM
2. UNIVERSAL STUDIOS SINGAPORE - 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM
The only Universal Studios in Southeast Asia — 7 themed zones, 24 rides and attractions, 5 live shows, and dozens of character meet-and-greets all in one compact, fully air-conditioned park. Compact but brilliantly designed — you can cover the entire park in one day if you start early and plan well.
THE 7 THEMED ZONES — Complete Guide
Sci-Fi City The park's most popular and high-adrenaline zone. Home to the two legendary roller coasters:
Battlestar Galactica: HUMAN vs CYLON — Asia's tallest duelling roller coasters standing side by side. HUMAN is a standard coaster; CYLON is an inverted coaster (your legs hang free) that corkscrews, loops, and dives while nearly colliding with the HUMAN track. The CYLON coaster is consistently voted the best ride in the park — absolutely not to be missed. Height min: 125 cm.
TRANSFORMERS: The Ride — a spectacular multi-sensory 3D motion simulator where you join Bumblebee and Optimus Prime battling Decepticons through a collapsing city. The visual and physical effects are seamless — one of the world's best simulator rides. Height min: 102 cm.
Do these first — queues reach 60–90 minutes by 11 AM on weekends.
Ancient Egypt A dark, atmospheric zone of towering temples and underground tombs.
Revenge of the Mummy — the park's most beloved classic: an indoor psychological roller coaster through near-total darkness, with sudden accelerations, backwards launches, fire effects, and jump scares. The build-up in the queue through the "cursed" set design is half the experience. Exceptionally well-designed and surprisingly scary. Height min: 122 cm.
Treasure Hunters — family-friendly jeep ride through ancient Egyptian ruins.
The Lost World (Jurassic Park) Lush, jungle-themed zone with tropical greenery and roaming dinosaur animatronics.
Jurassic World Rapids Adventure — a river rapids ride through jungle terrain with a dramatic 25-metre plunge drop that guarantees you get soaked. Perfect on a hot Singapore day. Height min: 107 cm.
Canopy Flyer — a suspended roller coaster that swoops above the jungle canopy for aerial views of Sentosa, the sea, and the park below. Short but exhilarating. Height min: 122 cm.
Dino-Soarin' — gentle flying dinosaur ride, perfect for young children.
Water World A brand-new addition
live stunt show combining waterskiing, wakeboarding, jet-ski acrobatics, and pyrotechnics in a massive open-air arena. One of the most spectacular live shows in any theme park in Southeast Asia. Check show times on arrival and plan your schedule around it.
Far Far Away (Shrek) A fairytale castle zone beloved by families with younger children.
Shrek 4-D Adventure — a 4D cinema experience with seats that move, spray water, and blast air in sync with a hilarious Shrek adventure film.
Puss In Boots' Giant Journey — a spinning, swinging family coaster themed around the Puss In Boots storyline. Height min: 107 cm.
Enchanted Airways — a junior suspended coaster flying over the kingdom. Min: 92 cm.
Character meet-and-greets with Shrek, Fiona, and Puss In Boots happen multiple times daily.
Madagascar & Sesame Street The dedicated young children's zone, with gentle rides and the most character meet-and-greet opportunities in the park.
King Julien's Beach Party-Go-Round — a gentle merry-go-round on the beach of Madagascar
Magic Potion Spin — a spinning teacup-style ride
Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase — a gentle dark ride through Sesame Street in outer space; perfect for toddlers
Street performer shows with the Madagascar penguins and Sesame Street characters throughout the day
Hollywood Boulevard The main entrance street
shops, restaurants, photo spots, and the park's most Instagram-worthy facades. Themed after the Golden Age of Hollywood, with art deco signage and costumed performers.
Is the Express Pass worth it? On weekends and school holidays — absolutely yes. It lets you skip the regular queue once per ride. For the CYLON coaster and Transformers ride, regular queues can hit 75–90 minutes; Express Pass cuts that to under 15 minutes. On quiet weekdays, standard tickets are fine.
Priority Ride Strategy — Get the Most Out of Your Day
As soon as the gates open at 10 AM:
Battlestar Galactica CYLON (Sci-Fi City) — run here first, before queues build
Revenge of the Mummy (Ancient Egypt) — immediately after
TRANSFORMERS: The Ride (Sci-Fi City) — while queues are still short
Jurassic World Rapids (Lost World) — mid-morning, great when it gets hot
Canopy Flyer (Lost World)
Lunch break — try the themed restaurants in each zone
Water World show — check show schedule on arrival
Puss In Boots + Enchanted Airways (Far Far Away)
Shrek 4-D + Sesame Street rides (afternoon, for families)
Character meet-and-greets + shopping (before closing)
Pro tips:
Download the USS app for real-time queue times
Lockers are available near Sci-Fi City — store bags before big rides
Best dining: Mel's Drive-In (Hollywood) for burgers; Star Bot Café for Asian food; Fossil Fuels (Jurassic) for the theming
Character parade happens twice daily — check the schedule board at the entrance
The park is entirely indoors or shaded — you won't feel Singapore's sun much
Open daily 10 AM – 8 PM
1. Singapore Oceanarium - 2.5–3 hours
One of the world's largest and most impressive oceanariums — newly revamped and reopened in July 2025, now three times larger than before with entirely redesigned exhibits. Located within Resorts World Sentosa, right next to Universal Studios.
What makes it spectacular: The centrepiece is the Open Ocean habitat — a colossal tank that dwarfs you as you stand before its floor-to-ceiling acrylic panels. Giant manta rays glide overhead, whale sharks drift past slowly, schools of tuna and thousands of reef fish swirl in mesmerising patterns. It's one of those moments that genuinely takes your breath away.
Zone by zone:
Strait of Karimata — South China Sea species including seahorses, wobbegong sharks, and ornate ghost pipefish in exquisite reef dioramas
Indian Ocean — dugongs, manta rays, hammerhead sharks in massive habitat tanks
Open Ocean — the flagship centrepiece with whale sharks and oceanic species
Interactive touch pools — gentle rays and starfish that children can touch
Ocean Restaurant — dining inside the aquarium with fish swimming around you (book in advance)
Shark Encounter — a glass tunnel walk-through with sharks swimming overhead
Open daily 10 AM – 8 PM
2. Sentosa Siloso Beach - FREE - 2 hours
The longest and most popular of Sentosa's three beaches — soft golden sand, calm turquoise waters, and a backdrop of swaying coconut palms. The water is clean and very calm (protected from open-ocean swells), making it safe for swimming. Beach chairs and umbrellas are available to rent.
Activities at Siloso Beach:
Swimming and sunbathing
Beach volleyball — free nets along the beach
Ola Beach Club — popular beachside bar with watersports rentals (kayaking, paddleboarding, wakeboarding)
FlyZone — beach parasailing and jet skiing
Café Del Mar Sentosa — the most popular beach club with a DJ pool party atmosphere on weekend afternoons
Three Sentosa Beaches compared:
Siloso — most lively, most facilities, best for activities and beach clubs
Palawan — quietest, most natural, connected to Asia's southernmost point via a suspension bridge (a great photo spot)
Tanjong — most resort-like, bordered by the Shangri-La and Sofitel, great for sunsets
Open 24 hours | FREE
3. Mega Adventure Park - 90 mins
Sentosa's most thrilling adventure attraction — perched on a forested hillside above Siloso Beach, Mega Adventure offers four incredible activities that can be done together or separately.
The 4 activities:
MegaZip — the headline attraction: a 450-metre zipline from the forested hilltop at 75 metres altitude, flying over the treetops and landing on a floating platform just off Siloso Beach in the sea. The sensation of flying above the ocean towards the beach is extraordinary — the most exhilarating 30 seconds in Singapore. A buggy collects you from the beach platform afterwards. SGD 39.
MegaClimb — a multi-level ropes course through the tree canopy with 25+ obstacles including rope bridges, cargo nets, and balance beams at varying heights. 2–3 hours for all levels. SGD 39.
MegaBounce — a giant bungee trampoline that launches you 8 metres into the air. SGD 20.
MegaJump — a free-fall jump from a 15-metre tower on a giant swing. SGD 20.
Tips: Book online in advance (often 10–15% cheaper). GoPro cameras can be borrowed free of charge at the counter — brilliant for capturing the zipline. Minimum weight for MegaZip: 20 kg; maximum: 120 kg.
Open daily 11 AM – 6:30 PM
4. AltitudeX — Indoor Skydiving - 60 mins
One of Singapore's most unique experiences — the only indoor skydiving wind tunnel in Singapore (formerly known as iFly Singapore). A massive vertical wind tunnel generates winds of up to 200 km/h, allowing you to experience the sensation of freefall skydiving without jumping from a plane — fully safe, fully exhilarating.
How it works: You attend a 20-minute briefing and suiting-up session, then enter the glass tunnel with an instructor who guides your body position as the wind holds you aloft. First-timers typically do two 60-second flights — which sounds short but feels like a significant physical and mental experience. By your second flight, most people are grinning ear to ear.
Who can do it: Ages 7 and above, weight under 136 kg, no serious back/neck/heart conditions.
Tips: Arrive at least 60 minutes before your booked slot for the briefing. Photos and videos are available to purchase post-session. Book online in advance.
Open daily Mon–Fri 11 AM–9 PM
5. Wings of Time Fireworks Symphony - 7:40 PM - 20 mins
The perfect finale to your Sentosa adventure — a breathtaking nightly outdoor show on Siloso Beach that combines water jets, lasers, 3D projections on a mist screen, fire effects, and fireworks into a 20-minute spectacle set to stirring music. It tells the story of two birds on an epic journey through time and nature — simple, universal, and genuinely moving.
What happens: The show takes place in an open-air amphitheatre facing the sea. As darkness falls, the screen of mist rises from the water, and the show begins — water cannons shoot coloured jets 30 metres into the air, lasers paint across the night sky, fire bursts erupt on either side of the stage, and the finale fireworks light up the entire Siloso Beach skyline to a musical crescendo.
Tips:
7:40 PM show is recommended over the 8:40 PM show — darker sky makes the lasers and fireworks more vivid, and you can arrive early to watch the sunset beforehand
Arrive 30 minutes early for good seats — it's open seating, first-come-first-served
Sit in the middle rows — front rows can get slight heat from the fire effects; back rows miss some of the water immersion
Book tickets online to skip the counter queue
Shows nightly at 7:40 PM and 8:40 PM
Day Time Activity
Day 1 8:45 AM Singapore Cable Car (Mount Faber → Sentosa)

Note: Genting Highlands is often mistakenly called "Genting Island" — it is actually a highland resort situated atop Gunung Ulu Kali, about 51 km northeast of Kuala Lumpur, at an elevation of 1,800–2,000 metres above sea level. It's Malaysia's only legal casino destination and one of Asia's top entertainment resorts.
Genting Highlands is nicknamed "The City in the Clouds" — and for good reason. The entire resort complex sits above the clouds, wrapped in cool mist, with temperatures of 15–25°C all year round — a dramatic contrast to the heat of KL below. It is home to Resorts World Genting, one of the world's largest integrated resort complexes, featuring theme parks, casinos, hotels, malls, restaurants, and a cable car.
